    Case 1: Merging two SFDC instances

      Challenges

      • Client had an existing Salesforce.com instance used primarily for marketing and sales automation and acquired another company that was also using Salesforce.com customer. Client needed the two instances merged.
      • Approximately 10,000 accounts in each instance
      • Over 35,000 combined contacts
      • Need to maintain all activity history (tasks/events)
      • Existing integrations with eCommerce applications & other backend/internal operations systems
      • Custom objects and fields with varying requirements for survival/combination

      Solution

      • Wired Triangle conducted a series of joint meetings with representatives of both organizations, and interviewed other key users to develop a keen sense of how both organizations previously used Salesforce.com as well as what needed to be improved given this transition point.
      • Implemented trial merge in SFDC sandbox edition account, held review with key client personnel.
      • De-duped accounts, contacts, leads and other records as appropriate.
      • Performed merge on live databases with no disruption to business-hours operations.
